Amazing Spider-Man (2025) #1 launches a new era for Peter Parker, re-establishing his classic "Parker Luck" of being down on his luck and jobless. The issue sets up a new mystery involving a shadowy villain who is manipulating and "weaponizing" Spider-Man's old foes, starting with a mysteriously rampaging Rhino.
A new job and bad luck: Peter Parker is unemployed and has a history of failed jobs, but he gets a new position at Rand Enterprises thanks to a former classmate.
The rampaging Rhino: On his first day, Peter is called into action as Spider-Man to stop a berserk Rhino. The battle is uncharacteristic for Rhino, who fights in a blind rage and suffers a heart attack, forcing Spider-Man to save him with CPR.
The bigger conspiracy: The Rhino's behavior points to a larger plot. Later, Peter learns from his friend Randy Robertson that other people in the same neighborhood where Rhino was rampaging have also been acting strangely.
The mastermind revealed: The story reveals that Roderick Kingsley (the Hobgoblin) is secretly monitoring the situation. He receives confirmation that the chemical used on Rhino is safe and orders a shadowy partner to silence Rhino.
The cliffhanger: The issue ends with Spider-Man visiting Rhino's empty apartment to investigate. A mysterious partner of Kingsley attacks Spider-Man, sending his mind into a trippy, psychedelic spiral.
Goblin-free Norman Osborn: A short bonus story focuses on Norman Osborn, who claims to have shed his Green Goblin persona and intends to live his life in obscurity.
Norman's true nature: During a press conference, Osborn is attacked by a man whose wife was killed by the Green Goblin. The attack forces Osborn to revert to his violent and ruthless nature, and he resolves to use his power for good.
