Plot Synopsis

The story focuses on a terminally ill Adrian Toomes (The Vulture), who is dying of cancer and has resolved to settle his final affairs and old scores before he passes away.

This dark bucket list brings the winged villain directly into the home—and bedroom—of Aunt May Parker. Rather than seeking violent revenge, a weak and desperate Vulture wants to apologize to May for his role in the accidental death of her late fiancé, Nathan Lubensky. Toomes explains that Nathan was one of the few people who had ever shown him genuine kindness, and learning that he was responsible for Nathan's demise completely broke his heart. Stunned and deeply offended by his presence, Aunt May slaps the Vulture across the face and firmly sends him away before breaking down in tears.

When May calls Peter to report the break-in, an enraged Spider-Man—still mentally exhausted from his recent trauma with the Green Goblin—swings into action to hunt Toomes down. Meanwhile, the Vulture crashes through the windows of the Daily Bugle to attack J. Jonah Jameson, demanding a front-page headline that will lure Spider-Man into a final, definitive duel to the death.
