The Joker is Batman's archenemy and one of the most iconic villains in popular culture, first appearing in Batman #1 (1940). Created by Bill Finger, Bob Kane, and Jerry Robinson, he was inspired by actor Conrad Veidt's performance in the 1928 film The Man Who Laughs.
