Without a family: In this reality, Superman's Kryptonian parents, Jor-El and Lara, were killed during Krypton's destruction. Furthermore, he was never raised by the loving Kent family on Earth. This leaves him as a lonely and disconnected immigrant on Earth.
Without a home: The classic Fortress of Solitude does not exist for this isolated Man of Steel, who is on the run and working in a diamond mine in Brazil when the story begins.
Without roots: Superman's iconic connection to humanity, fostered in Smallville, is removed. His journey makes him more distrustful of authority and more desperate.
A new direction influenced by Darkseid
In this continuity, which is separate from the mainstream DC Universe, Darkseid's rebirth and subsequent actions have created a reality fueled by despair instead of hope. This negative energy shapes the world and its heroes, stripping them of key advantages.
An anti-corporate agenda: The Absolute Superman targets corporate exploitation, challenging the powerful Lazarus Corporation and its army of Peacemakers. This puts him in conflict with an "Agent Lois Lane" working for the corporation.
A technologically-powered suit: His Kryptonian heritage manifests differently, with his suit and a cape made of "sunstone dust" crafted by his parents. The suit is powered by an A.I. named Sol, the last voice of Krypton.
Unstable powers: This younger, more impulsive Superman has unstable powers, including heat vision that needs to be frequently recharged.
