Absolute Superman # 9, released by DC Comics on July 9, 2025, is an issue from the ongoing Absolute Universe series that sees a vulnerable, injured Kal-El forced to align with the enigmatic Omega Men against the powerful Lazarus Corporation.

The issue picks up after Superman is shot with synthetic kryptonite bullets by Lazarus Corp agent Peacemaker Smith.

  • Superman Injured: The issue opens with the Omega Men attempting to perform emergency, unanesthetized surgery on a critically injured Superman. Anesthesia proves ineffective, and his internal pain accidentally destroys the medical equipment.
  • Kryptonian Irony: As he struggles with the "radioactive slivers" tearing him apart, Superman experiences flashbacks to Krypton and realizes the tragic irony that his home planet's essence is what is actively killing him on Earth.
  • Lois Lane's Ordeal: In a parallel storyline, Lois Lane, working at the Lazarus Corp Processing Center, is interrogated by the corporation's reclusive leader and CEO, Ra's al Ghul, who threatens her father to ensure her cooperation.
  • A Moral Dilemma: Weeks later, a recovered Superman joins the Omega Men in an attack on a Lazarus Corp embassy in Pakistan. While Superman insists on no killing, he witnesses the Omega leader, Primus, attempt an execution. Though he catches the bullet at the last second, he briefly hesitates, showing his growing internal anger and despair. The issue concludes with the Omega Men accidentally leaving the captured Jimmy Olsen behind, who is then about to be interrogated by Lois Lane.
