Absolute Wonder Women #1 is a DC comic book that was released on October 23, 2024, and is part of the company's "Absolute Universe" imprint. The miniseries reimagines the origin story of Wonder Woman, who is exiled to Hell as an infant instead of being raised on the island of Themyscira. The series is written by Kelly Thompson with art by Hayden Sherman.
The Absolute Universe: The "Absolute Universe" was launched as part of the "DC All In" initiative following the Absolute Power crossover event in 2024. It is a new continuity featuring modernized and reimagined versions of classic DC characters, providing a new entry point for readers.
A new Diana: In this timeline, Wonder Woman is still a princess with her Amazonian gifts, but her upbringing in Hell, under the care of the witch Circe, has honed her into a stronger, darker weapon. This version of Diana must rejoin the surface world and discover her place in it.
Story arc: The comic's first story arc, "The Last Amazon," explains Diana's new origins. It follows her as she enters the human world, where she confronts demonic forces and a Kaiju, the Tetracide, in Gateway City.
Creative team: The series is written by Eisner Award-winner Kelly Thompson and drawn by Hayden Sherman, with coloring by Jordie Bellaire. The first collected edition, also titled Absolute Wonder Woman Vol. 1: The Last Amazon, was released in August 2025.
Eisner Award: The series was a critical success and won the Best New Series award at the 2025 Eisner Awards.
