Absolute Wonder Woman #4 (published January 22, 2025) is the penultimate chapter of the groundbreaking first story arc, "The Last Amazon," set within DC's alternative Absolute Universe.

The issue centers on the aftermath of Diana's brutal fight with a monstrous entity and introduces reimagined versions of core lore characters:

The Plot: Sacrifices and Sorcery

In previous chapters, Diana did the unthinkable to escape the fatal grasp of The Tetracide ("The Four Killer")—she sacrificed her sword arm in a dark magic ritual to save Steve Trevor and send him back to the human world.

  • The Magic Ritual: To defeat the monster lingering off the coast of Gateway City, Diana needs to be at full power. She enlists local magical help to perform a blood ritual that regrows her flesh arm, successfully restoring her strength.
  • The Climax: Diana traps the Tetracide using a "scream grenade" filled with her own bottled fear and failure. Imbuing her blade with magic, she expands the weapon to the size of a building and drives it through the monster, splitting it in two.
  • The Fallout: Wonder Woman's explosive public battle draws the eye of Washington D.C.. The President tasks National Security Advisor Veronica Cale with dealing with Diana, establishing Cale as a looming major antagonist.

Reimagined Absolute Characters

Writer Kelly Thompson uses this issue to introduce distinct, modernized takes on traditional Wonder Womanmainstays:

  • Etta Candy & Gia Candy: In this universe, Etta Candy is a sharp private investigator. Her sister Gia is a witch who operates a specialty shop selling crystals and magical ingredients, providing Diana with the components needed for her arm ritual.
  • Hecate & Circe: Flashbacks reveal that the mythological goddess Hecate has been feeding visions to Circe. Hecate drops lore hints about an "absolute storyline," explaining that while the universe naturally bends toward justice, constant chaos forces the gods to try and break the cycle.
