Avengers: Marvels Snapshots # 1 2021 NM-

Avengers: Marvels Snapshots # 1 (January 2021) is a standalone one-shot comic that explores the lives of ordinary citizens living in a world of superheroes. Part of the Marvels Snapshots series curated by Kurt Busiek, the story is set during the classic late-1970s/early-1980s era of the Avengers. 

The issue follows a "meet-cute" romance between two first responders against the backdrop of a chaotic superhero battle: 

• The Protagonists: Kerry, a new-to-the-city emergency medical technician (EMT), and Jay, a rookie cop, meet while responding to a devastating attack in New York City.
• The Conflict: While the Avengers (including Iron Man, Beast, and Wonder Man) battle a giant, rampaging robot and the villain Count Nefaria, Kerry and Jay work to rescue and protect civilians trapped in a bunker.
• Civilians' Perspective: As they wait out the battle, the first responders and civilians exchange stories and personal anecdotes about their past encounters with the Avengers, humanizing the heroes through a "man on the street" lens.

The issue is frequently praised for its nostalgic tone and its ability to capture the "human heart" within the massive scale of the Marvel Universe. It was eventually collected along with other snapshots in the Marvels Snapshots hardcover released in June 2021
