Batman and Robin: Year One #1 by DC Comics, is a limited series written by Mark Waid with art by Chris Samnee. It follows Bruce Wayne's early days as the adoptive father to Dick Grayson and chronicles Dick's first missions as Robin. The series re-examines the origin of the Dynamic Duo, offering a fresh take while retaining a classic, vintage feel.

The plot takes place roughly three weeks after Dick Grayson's parents are murdered.

A new criminal mastermind known as "the General" arrives in Gotham to challenge the city's established mobs.

The antagonist is Two-Face, who has stolen a sealed police file. He acts uncharacteristically, revealing he is also being threatened by the General.

Character development focuses on the complex father-and-son dynamic between Bruce and Dick. Batman, who is accustomed to working alone, must now operate as a mentor, while Dick views his new heroic role as both a serious matter and a game.

The series' tone has been praised for honoring the classic Batman: Year One story by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli, but with a more modern feel.
