Captain America: Cold War Alpha 2023 # 1 NM

Captain America: Cold War Alpha # 1 released on April 12, 2023, is the launch issue of the "Cold War" crossover event, bringing together the storylines from both ongoing Captain America titles. It sets the stage for a conflict involving the abduction of Steve Rogers' son, the return of Dimension Z, and Bucky Barnes' alliance with the White Wolf. 

• The Abduction of Nomad: The issue opens with Steve Rogers having a reunion lunch with his adopted son, Ian Rogers, also known as Nomad. The meeting is interrupted, and Ian is violently kidnapped by Peggy Carter, who is now under the influence of the villainous organization, the Outer Circle.
• An Unholy Alliance: It is revealed that Bucky Barnes (operating as the "Revolution" within the Outer Circle to destroy it from within) has formed an alliance with White Wolf (Sam Wilson's nemesis). Bucky frees the White Wolf from prison in exchange for codes and a transmitter needed to carry out his plan.
• The Zola Connection: In Dimension Z, the White Wolf drinks a concoction made from Nomad's blood, which is infused with Arnim Zola's DNA. This action allows the White Wolf to take the throne of Dimension Z and begin dispatching an army, the Phrox, to Earth.
• A Call for Help: A concerned Steve Rogers calls upon Sam Wilson (the other Captain America), Sharon Carter, and Misty Knight to pool their information and track down Ian's kidnappers and the White Wolf.
• The Battle in Alaska: The team tracks unusual activity to a secret battleground in Alaska, where a portal to Dimension Z opens, unleashing an army of monsters. Bucky is shown watching the battle from Dimension Z, indicating he views the potential loss of his friends as a necessary "price of victory".
