Plot & Story Progression

The series serves as a prelude to a broader spotlight on the character. The overarching plot centers on Basil Karlo (the original Clayface) escaping Arkham only to find an imposter has stolen his identity and become a successful Hollywood star. Concurrently, a dangerous new lifestyle supplement called Losilmix (derived from Basil's own DNA) is causing monstrous mutations and body horror transformations around Los Angeles.

In issue #4, the mystery starts unraveling:

• The Investigation: Basil Karlo teams up with his former physician, Dr. Victoria October, to investigate the bizarre side effects of Losilmix and a string of local disappearances.
• The Frame Job: As they piece together the evidence, everything points to Basil Karlo himself being responsible for the crimes.
• The Imposter Revealed: The fake Basil Karlo is uncovered as Preston Payne (the third Clayface), who has been abducting women, including Basil's neighbor Katie.
• Lady Clay Arrives: The investigation leads Basil directly into the path of Sondra Fuller (Lady Clay), who happens to be Preston Payne's wife. Basil must figure out if she is arriving as an ally or an enemy looking to crush his Hollywood dreams.
