Danger Street # 1 released on December 13, 2022, is the premiere of a 12-issue DC Black Label maxiseries by writer Tom King and artist Jorge Fornés. It reimagines nearly a dozen obscure characters who originally debuted in DC’s 1975–1976 anthology series 1st Issue Special. 

Core Storyline: "Atlas the Great" 

The issue is presented as a gritty crime drama narrated by the Helmet of Fate, which weaves a tale of several seemingly unrelated groups whose lives collide through a single catastrophic event. 

• The Main Plot: Seeking validation and membership in the Justice League, the trio of Starman (Mikaal Tomas), Metamorpho, and Warlord devise a plan to summon and defeat Darkseid. Using the stolen Helmet of Fate, they accidentally summon the ancient warrior Atlas instead, leading to a violent confrontation in the desert.
• The Inciting Incident: During the struggle with Atlas, a member of a group of joyriding kids called the Dingbats of Danger Street is accidentally killed, setting off a chain reaction of unintended consequences.
• Subplots:
• Lady Cop: Local officer Liza Warner attempts to maintain order and deal with the fallout of the incident.
• The Creeper: Disgraced reporter Jack Ryder attempts to reclaim his status by interviewing for a new cable network run by the Green Team, a group of teen billionaires.
• Manhunter: Mark Shaw is shown operating under the direction of a mysterious secret cult.
