DC K.O. # 1 (released on October 8, 2025) is the explosive premiere issue of a major 5-issue blockbuster crossover event from DC Comics. Written by Scott Snyder alongside artists Javi Fernandez and Xermanico, the storyline brings a heavy-metal, over-the-top battle royale concept to the DC Universe. 

Though "K.O." sounds like "Knock-out," Snyder revealed a major twist: it actually stands for "King Omega".

The Plot: "The Cosmic Battle Royale"

The issue sets up a desperate, high-stakes crisis for Earth's heroes: 

• The Hellscape: The Heart of Apokolips has erupted from within Earth's core, transforming the globe into a twisted, brutal hellscape to pave the way for the ultimate return of Darkseid. 
• The Tournament: To stand a chance against Darkseid, 32 DC superheroes are forced to enter a deadly, five-level cosmic tournament generated by the planet's core. The winner will absorb pure Omega Energy, be crowned "King Omega," and gain the power necessary to step into the ring against Darkseid himself. 
• The Catch: The closer the combatants get to the Heart of Apokolips, the more its energy corrupts them. The tournament strips away moral boundaries, forcing longtime allies, friends, and family members to brutally turn on one another to survive and win.
• Wildcard Encounters: Adding to the chaos, the event features shocking cross-company guest combatants who enter the fray, including Homelander (The Boys), Sub-Zero (Mortal Kombat), and Red Sonja.
