Deadman # 1 1986 VF/NM

Deadman # 1, released by DC Comics on March 1, 1986, is the debut of a four-part prestige-format miniseries that reintroduces the ghostly hero, Boston Brand, for the modern era. Written by Andrew Helfer and illustrated by the legendary José Luis García-López, the issue explores deep themes of isolation, duty, and the tragic nature of Deadman's existence. 

"Return To Forever!" 

The story picks up with Deadman (Boston Brand) residing in the mystical, hidden city of Nanda Parbat, still recovering from a past poisoning by the villainous Sensei. 

• A Ghostly Dilemma: The deity Rama Kushna urges Deadman to remain in Nanda Parbat as its eternal defender. However, Deadman is plagued by profound loneliness and a longing for physical human sensations, such as warmth and the love of a woman.
• The Sibling Connection: Desperate to tie up loose ends and experience life again, Deadman seeks out his identical twin brother, Cleveland Brand.
• A Tragic Possession: In a fateful encounter, Deadman convinces Cleveland to let him possess his body so he can perform his old circus trapeze act once more.
• The Second Death: While performing in Cleveland's body, an assassin shoots the trapeze artist mid-air. This results in a second death for Boston and the actual death of his brother.
• The Fallout: The issue concludes with a supernatural vortex where the brothers' spirits confront each other, setting the stage for Deadman to pursue his old nemesis, the Sensei, once again.
