Deadpool/Wolverine #1 (2025) starts a new ongoing series where Deadpool, acting unusually serious and focused, recruits Wolverine for a mission involving an unearthed fan-favorite villain, who is revealed to be Stryfe. 

• A Mysterious Package: The issue opens with two agents of the Office of National Emergency (ONE) inventorying an old S.H.I.E.L.D. warehouse. They discover a concrete object wrapped in chains inside an Adamantium chest with a deep freeze, implying something very dangerous has been long contained.
• A Focused Deadpool: In a divergence from his usual chaotic persona, Deadpool interrupts Wolverine during a bar fight and is uncharacteristically quiet, serious, and determined when he tells Logan they have a mission. This unusual behavior immediately makes Wolverine suspicious that something is wrong with Wade.
• The Mission: The duo's mission is linked to the X-Cutioner and Wolverine's old teammate Maverick, as they are drawn into a large-scale plot involving an ages-long plan coming to fruition.
• The Twist: As the story progresses, Wolverine realizes that Deadpool is being mind-controlled or influenced by a nanite-related virus.
