Flashpoint # 1 Special Edition Reprint 2023 NM

Flashpoint # 1 published by DC Comics in May 2011, is the premiere issue of a five-part miniseries that fundamentally reshaped the DC Universe. Written by Geoff Johns with art by Andy Kubert, the story follows Barry Allen (The Flash) as he awakens in an unrecognizable, fractured reality. 

Plot Summary: "Flashpoint" Chapter One 

The issue establishes a world on the brink of total destruction due to a cataclysmic war. 

• The Awakening: Barry Allen wakes up at his desk in the Central City crime lab to find he no longer has super-speed. He is shocked to find his mother, Nora Allen, is alive in this timeline, though his wife, Iris West, does not know him.
• A Fractured World: Barry quickly realizes that the Justice League never formed and that iconic heroes like Superman do not exist. Instead, the world is being decimated by a brutal war between Aquaman's Atlanteans and Wonder Woman's Amazons, which has already cost over 130 million lives.
• The Heroes of This World: In this reality, Cyborg is the world's premiere superhero and attempts to recruit others to stop the war. Familiar faces have been altered: Captain Cold is now the heroic Citizen Cold, while Abin Sur remains the Green Lantern of Earth.
• The Batman Reveal: Seeking answers, Barry travels to Gotham City to find Batman. Upon entering a deserted Batcave, he discovers that this Batman uses lethal force and keeps a gun in a display case. The issue ends with the shocking revelation that Thomas Wayne is the Batman, having survived the alleyway shooting that killed his son, Bruce.
