Forever Evil #3 (2013) is the third issue of the main miniseries, detailing the aftermath of the Crime Syndicate's victory and focusing on the villains who reject the Syndicate's new world order. It features an important character return and a significant shift in alliances.

Story Synopsis

The issue, titled "Team-Up," explores the chaotic state of the world under the Crime Syndicate's rule.

  • Lex Luthor's Alliance: Lex Luthor, refusing to bow to the Crime Syndicate, begins assembling his own "Injustice League" of villains who also resent the invasion. He breaks Black Adam out of confinement and recruits Black Manta and Captain Cold.
  • Batman & Catwoman's Plan: Batman and Catwoman are actively working to survive the new regime and find the missing Justice League. They learn that the Crime Syndicate has captured all of the heroes and placed their weapons in a public display, prompting them to begin formulating a plan to fight back.
  • Dick Grayson's Fate: The Crime Syndicate uses the captured Dick Grayson (Nightwing) as leverage, intending to unmask him live on television to prove they know the heroes' true identities and break the global populace's last hope.
  • The Return of "Subject Zero": The main focus of the issue is Lex Luthor freeing a powerful, deformed subject he calls "Subject Zero" from his lab. This massive, pale, monstrous figure is revealed to be the New 52 version of Bizarro, who Luthor believes can fight against Ultraman.
  • Ultraman's Weakness: The issue also hints at a key weakness of the seemingly invulnerable Ultraman: he is highly sensitive to and weakened by kryptonite, which he is secretly hording.
