Four Star Spectacular # 1 1976 FN

Four Star Spectacular #1 (1976) is a giant-sized, 64-page dollar anthology comic published by DC Comics on March 10, 1976 (cover-dated April 1976). Edited by E. Nelson Bridwell, the 50-cent issue launched a brief 6-issue run dedicated to printing classic, economy-sized samplers of DC's diverse superhero roster from different eras. The striking front cover was illustrated by legendary artist Ernie Chan.

• Superboy in "The Stolen Identities!": Originally from Adventure Comics #270 (1960). Written by Otto Binder and drawn by George Papp, it features two shape-shifting aliens who mistakenly kidnap Ma and Pa Kent. Exposure to Red Kryptonite causes Clark to wildly shift sizes and shapes.
• Wonder Woman in "Riddle of the Talking Lion": Originally from Sensation Comics #17 (1943). Written by franchise creator William Moulton Marston and illustrated by Frank Godwin, this Golden Age reprint follows Diana and Steve Trevor investigating a bizarre talking lion at a local zoo.
• Hawkman in "Attack of the Crocodile-Men!": Originally from Hawkman #7 (1965). Scripted by Gardner Fox with classic Silver Age interior art by Murphy Anderson, Hawkman tracks a radioactive signature to Egypt to battle the "Criminal Alliance of the World".
• Golden Age Flash in "The City of Shifting Sand": Originally from All-Flash #22 (1946). Written by John Broome, this vintage story features the original speedster Jay Garrick navigating a mystical shifting desert metropolis.
