Guardians of the Galaxy # 20 published in January 1992, serves as the action-packed conclusion to the four-part "Homecoming" saga and features the significant debut of Vance Astro in a new role.

The story brings together a massive cast of characters in the 31st century for a senses-shattering battle:

• The Conflict: The Guardians of the Galaxy—the original team from the Earth-691 timeline—find themselves in a chaotic collision with several factions, including the Punishers (a street gang, not the vigilante), the Commandeers, the alien Badoon, and the newly introduced character Talon.
• Vance Astro's Transformation: The central event of the issue is Vance Astro shedding his original containment suit and fully embracing his destiny. He takes on the new code name Major Victory, essentially becoming the Captain America of the 31st Century, complete with the original Captain America's shield.
• Talon Joins: The mysterious character Talon officially joins the Guardians of the Galaxy team. 

• First Appearance: This issue marks the very first appearance of Vance Astro as Major Victory.
• Creative Team: The entire issue, including the writing, pencils, and cover art, was handled by Jim Valentino, with inks by Steve Montano and Danny Bulanadi.
