Harley Quinn: Futures End #1, released by DC Comics on September 24, 2014, is a comedic and wacky one-shot comic that tied into DC’s universe-wide Futures End event.
Written by the fan-favorite creative duo of Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner with vibrant artwork by Chad Hardin, this five-years-in-the-future tale ignored the grim, post-apocalyptic tone of the other tie-ins. Instead, it opted for a lighthearted, absurd romantic comedy paying homage to classic Batman: The Animated Series tropes.

Plot Summary: 'Crappily Ever After'
- Shipping Herself to the Bahamas: Desperate for a tropical vacation but wanting to save a buck, Harley Quinn decides to mail herself inside a cargo crate destined for the Bahamas. Along for the ride is a dog from the cargo hold and her taxidermied companion, the talking skull of Bernie the Beaver.
- Stranded on a Desert Island: Her cargo plane flies directly into a brutal electrical storm, crashing over the Atlantic. Harley washes up on the shores of an isolated, uncharted tropical island.
- Becoming a Goddess: Rather than finding a resort, Harley encounters a local tribe led by a chief named Bouba. The tribespeople mistake Harley for a divine entity, quickly crowning her as their new Princess-Queen-Goddess.
- The Joker's Volcano Wedding: Harley soon discovers the island already has a ruler—her ex-boyfriend, the Joker, who has been hiding out there from the Justice League for five years. Delighted to reunite, the two immediately plan a wedding. However, the honeymoon is short-lived when Harley learns the Joker’s true, twisted plan: the wedding is a ritual sacrifice meant to appease a volatile volcano deity, and he intends for it to be a case of "till death do them part".
- A Fortunate Eruption: Just as the ceremony—officiated by a tribal member dressed up like Batman—is about to end in their mutual doom, the volcano violently erupts. The resulting chaos allows Harley to escape the Joker's clutches, rescue her taxidermied beaver skull, and safely secure a ride back home to New York City.
