Hawkman # 1 2018 NM

Hawkman # 1, released on June 13, 2018, launched a new ongoing series written by Robert Venditti with art by Bryan Hitch. Spinning out of the events of Dark Nights: Metal, it serves as a "soft reboot" that streamlines Hawkman's complex history by exploring the true purpose behind his endless cycle of reincarnations. 

The issue follows Carter Hall, the legendary winged warrior and archaeologist, as he awakens from his experiences in the Dark Multiverse with a nagging feeling that he has forgotten critical details about his past lives. 

• The Quest: Embarking on a global search for answers, Carter travels to an island south of Santorini, Greece. He seeks the Nautilus of Revealment, an ancient relic capable of showing one's true past.
• Action: In a scene reminiscent of Indiana Jones, Carter infiltrates an ancient temple and battles a giant, three-eyed guardian golem to claim the artifact.
• The Revelation: Upon securing the Nautilus, Carter visits Madame Xanadu, who helps him unlock its power. He is overwhelmed by visions revealing that his reincarnations are not just limited to Earth or ancient Egypt but span across time and space—including a past life on the planet Thanagar.
• The Prophecy: Carter discovers a warning of an ancient prophecy and a looming threat known as the Deathbringers, who are coming for Earth.
