Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: 1954—Ghost Moon #1 released on March 8, 2017, is the first issue of a two-part miniseries. The story sends Hellboy and his team to Hong Kong to investigate a supernatural mystery rooted in Chinese folklore and the history of the British spy network in the Far East. 

• The Mission: Professor Trevor Bruttenholm receives a late-night call from an old friend, Lady Cynthia Eden-Jones, asking for assistance in Hong Kong. Hellboy, alongside agents Archie Muraro and Susan Xiang, is dispatched during the "Ghost Moon," a month-long Chinese hungry ghost festival.
• Hunting Demons: Hellboy and the team investigate the Walled City of Hong Kong, where they are on the hunt for ancient Chinese demons.
• Action and Folklore: The investigation quickly escalates into classic Mignolaverse action, featuring a battle against a giant horse-headed figure and a bull Minotaur-like foe.
