I Hate Fairyland #1 is about Gert, a grown woman in a six-year-old's body, who has been trapped in a sugary-sweet, violent, and maddening magical world for nearly 30 years and will stop at nothing to find her way home.
Gertrude (Gert) was a young girl who wished to be transported to a magical world, a wish granted by Queen Cloudia. She was given a quest to find a key to return home, a task meant to take only a short time. However, due to a mix of bad luck and incompetence, she failed to find the key for decades. She is now an un-aging, cynical, and violent misanthrope with a giant battle-axe, accompanied by a chain-smoking fly sidekick named Larry.

The comic is a satirical, dark comedy that blends an Adventure Time or Alice in Wonderland-style aesthetic with mature, Tank Girl or Deadpool-esque humor and over-the-top violence.
