Justice League of America #7.4: Black Adam #1 (2013) is a special tie-in issue titled "The Power of Shazam". Released in September 2013, this book was part of DC Comics' company-wide "Villains Month" initiative during The New 52 era. Rather than following the primary team roster, the issue details the brutal resurrection of [Black Adam] following his apparent death in Justice League #21, setting up his vital trajectory for the Forever Evil crossover event.

Key Storyline Points

  • The Tyranny of Ibac: The narrative opens with a historical reminder of how Kahndaq was brutally conquered 4,000 years ago by the barbarian Ibac. In the present day, Kahndaq is once again ruled by a ruthless dictator named Ibac, who claims descent from that original conqueror.
  • The Sons of Adam: An underground rebel cult known as the "Sons of Adam" believes their country can only be freed by bringing back its ultimate protector. A rebel named Amon leads a desperate, mystical ritual using Black Adam's ancient remains.
  • A Deadly Resurrection: Just as Ibac's military forces breach the sanctuary and execute Amon, the ritual succeeds. By combining ancient magic with unwavering devotion, they successfully resurrect Black Adam from the dead.
  • Reclaiming the Throne: Awakened with unbridled fury, Black Adam effortlessly obliterates Ibac’s modern military forces. He confronts Ibac directly, shattering his weapon and brutally turning the dictator into a literal stone statue.
  • A Clash With the Secret Society: Fresh off his victory, Black Adam is immediately approached by a messenger from the Secret Society of Super-Villains. The Society demands that he submit Kahndaq to the global rule of the Crime Syndicate. Adam flatly rejects the ultimatum, tearing the messenger's coin in half and solidifying his role as a rogue force against the invading conquerors.
