Justice League United # 0 2014 NM

Justice League United #0 (2014) is the debut issue of a New 52-era series that officially forms the team informally known as "Justice League Canada". Written by Jeff Lemire and illustrated by Mike McKone, the issue serves as a prologue following the events of Forever Evil, shifting the focus of Justice League operations to Northern Ontario and the cosmic reaches of the Polaris System. 

Plot Summary: The Toronto Infiltration

The story utilizes an in media res opening before flashing back to explain how this eclectic group of heroes united. 

• The Request: Anthropologist Dr. Adam Strange approaches Animal Man and Stargirl at a comic convention in Toronto, pleading for help finding his missing fiancé, Alanna Lewis, who vanished in a beam of light at an archaeological dig.
• The Investigation: Upon investigating the site in Northern Ontario, the heroes are attacked by armored aliens. They are soon joined by Martian Manhunter and Green Arrow, eventually discovering an underground alien base.
• A New Hero: The issue introduces Miiyahbin Marten, a Cree teenager from Moose Factory Island, who must defend her home from mystical forces. She is destined to become the new Canadian hero, Equinox.
• Cosmic Stakes: The narrative reveals that Alanna Lewis is held captive on the moon of Thalsalla by the villainous Lord Byth Rok, who is also holding Hawkman prisoner.
