King in Black: Immortal Hulk # 1 (February 2021 cover date, released December 2020) is a unique "silent" tie-in issue to the King in Black event. It features no dialogue or text, relying entirely on visual storytelling to depict a "Black Christmas" for the Hulk during Knull's symbiote invasion.
"Black Christmas"
The story finds the Hulk in a weakened state following his confrontation with the Leader; half of his alters, including Bruce Banner and the Devil Hulk, are missing or dead.
- The Christmas Quest: A child-like, gamma-depleted "Savage Hulk" wanders a symbiote-infested New York City on Christmas Eve. He is enraptured by toys in a department store window but is triggered by memories of his father's abuse, causing him to smash the storefront in rage.
- Joe Fixit's Intervention: Feeling regret, the Hulk reverts to Bruce Banner's form, which is currently inhabited by the personality of Joe Fixit. Joe is immediately hunted through the store by a grotesque symbiote that has bonded to two police officers.
- The Trap: In a display of his characteristic cunning, Joe uses the store's public address system and a makeshift flamethrower (using a lighter and spray can) to destroy the symbiote.
- A Moment of Peace: After securing the store, Joe allows the Savage Hulk to take over again so he can safely play with the toys, providing a rare moment of joy amidst the apocalyptic invasion.
- Creative Team: Written by Al Ewing with art and cover by Aaron Kuder.
- Main Characters: Joe Fixit and the "Savage" child-like Hulk.
- Format: A 40-page, silent one-shot issue.
