Magog # 1 2009 NM-

Magog # 1, released on September 2, 2009, launched the character's first solo series, exploring the brutal methods and independent agenda of Lance Corporal David Reid, the newly resurrected herald of the old god Gog. 

"Lethal Force" 

The story follows Magog as he tracks illegal high-tech weapons, known as "Wonder Tech," separate from his obligations to the Justice Society of America (JSA). 

• The Mission: Magog travels to Sudan, where he discovers soldiers using salvaged alien technology to reanimate and control dead villagers as laborers. He kills the perpetrators and retrieves one of the control devices.
• The Conflict: Back in his civilian life in Ordell, West Virginia, Magog is visited by Alan Scott (Green Lantern). Scott expresses deep concern over Magog's increasingly violent and lethal methods, but his warnings go unheeded.
• The Conspiracy: The issue reveals that the "Wonder Tech" is being salvaged from metahuman battle sites and illegally sold by criminal enterprises like Flashpoint. 

Key Characters 

• Magog (David Reid): A former soldier and descendant of Franklin D. Roosevelt, cybernetically enhanced by Gog with gold metal limbs and a powerful energy staff.
• Axel Baines: David's closest friend and an intelligence analyst who lives under the guise of a gas station attendant.
• Alan Scott: The original Green Lantern, who acts as a moral foil to Magog’s extremist brand of justice.
• Lauren Weaver: A waitress whom David befriends and provides with secret combat training for self-defense.
