The Mission: Magog travels to Sudan, where he discovers soldiers using salvaged alien technology to reanimate and control dead villagers as laborers. He kills the perpetrators and retrieves one of the control devices.

The Conflict: Back in his civilian life in Ordell, West Virginia, Magog is visited by Alan Scott (Green Lantern). Scott expresses deep concern over Magog's increasingly violent and lethal methods, but his warnings go unheeded.
