Spider-Man #14, published in September 1991, is a high-action "Copper Age" issue written and illustrated by Todd McFarlane. It is the second part of the two-issue "Perceptions" finale (concluding the story from issue #13).

Story Summary: "Perceptions, Part 2"

The story is a dark, atmospheric mystery set in the snowy forests of British Columbia.

  • The Mystery: Spider-Man is investigating a series of child murders that locals blame on the Wendigo.
  • The Team-Up: Spidey teams up with Wolverine to track the creature. While Spider-Man is hesitant to kill, Wolverine is prepared to do whatever is necessary.
  • The Twist: They discover the "monster" isn't the supernatural Wendigo, but a human hunter who has been framing the creature to cover his own crimes.
  • The Climax: In a brutal confrontation, the hunter is killed by the actual Wendigo. The story ends on a somber note with J. Jonah Jameson running a misleading headline, proving that "perception" is often more powerful than the truth.

Why Collectors Want It

  • McFarlane Art: This is one of the final issues of Todd McFarlane's legendary run before he left to form Image Comics. It features his trademark "spaghetti webbing" and highly detailed, gritty art.
  • Wolverine Appearance: Early '90s team-ups between Spidey and Wolverine are classic collector favorites.
