Star Wars: Obi-Wan & Anakin # 1 2016 VF/NM

Star Wars: Obi-Wan & Anakin #1 is the first issue of a five-part Marvel Comics miniseries published on January 6, 2016. Written by Charles Soule and illustrated by Marco Checchetto, the story is set in 29 BBY, roughly three years after The Phantom Menace. 

Plot Summary

The story follows Obi-Wan Kenobi and a 12-year-old Anakin Skywalker as they respond to a mysterious distress call. 

• The Mission: The duo travels to the remote, frozen planet of Carnelion IV, a world long thought to be dead and shrouded in toxic clouds.
• The Crash: Their ship is destroyed upon arrival, forcing them to navigate the wreckage of "Cloud Sea" cities. They quickly find themselves caught in a localized war between two primitive factions, the Open and the Closed.
• Anakin's Doubt: Through flashbacks to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, the issue explores Anakin’s growing frustration with Jedi life. He feels like an outsider and, in a shocking reveal, confesses to Obi-Wan that he is considering leaving the Jedi Order.
• Palpatine’s Influence: The issue also highlights the early, manipulative relationship between Chancellor Palpatine and Anakin, showing how the Sith Lord began sowing seeds of doubt about the Jedi's effectiveness.
