Plot Synopsis
This issue officially shifts Superboy (Conner Kent / Kon-El) away from Metropolis to carve out his own identity on a tropical stage:
- The World Tour: Traveling alongside his management team—the unscrupulous agent Rex Leech, Rex's daughter Roxy Leech, and their telepathic Project Cadmus chaperone Dubbilex—Superboy arrives in Honolulu, Hawaii, for the third leg of a high-profile "Superboy World Tour".
- The Beach Ambush: The vacation is instantly interrupted when a cybernetic scavenger named Sidearm attacks the beach. Sidearm grabs Roxy Leech as a hostage and uses his mechanical limbs to keep the hero at bay.
- Tactile Telekinesis: Superboy relies on his unique signature power—tactile telekinesis—to fundamentally dismantle Sidearm's weapons, easily defeating the villain while loudly mocking his name and gimmicks.
- A New Home: Local police detective Sam Makoa arrives on the scene to secure the villain. After interacting with adoring local fans and reconnecting with his television reporter love interest, Tana Moon, Superboy falls in love with the islands. He makes the executive decision to permanently ditch Metropolis and declare himself the official "Hero of Hawaii."
Key Character First Appearances
This debut issue serves as an important modern key book by introducing several long-standing DC figures:

- First Appearance of Agent Sam Makoa: The stern Honolulu police detective who becomes Superboy's primary law enforcement ally.
- First Appearance of Sidearm: A cybernetic mercenary who serves as Superboy's first recurring solo villain.
