Plot Synopsis

Set five years into the future, Kon-El (Superboy) has been infected with a terminal clone-degradation virus that is actively eating away at his DNA and stripping him of his powers. Unable to fly and getting progressively weaker, he struggles heavily under the emotional weight of failing to live up to Superman's heroic legacy.

While fighting off rogue automatons alongside his close allies—including Rose Wilson, Guardian (Jim Harper), and Roxy—the situation takes a bizarre turn. Multiple alternate-reality versions of Superboy cross dimensional boundaries to hunt him down, believing that killing Kon-El is the only way to cure the identical genetic viruses threatening their own lives.

When Kon proves his death won't cure them, one of the desperate variant clones turns rogue, brutally executing and absorbing the other alternate Superboys. This causes the variant to mutate into a massive, energy-engorged cellular monstrosity. Pushing his failing body to the absolute limit, Kon uses his remaining powers to obliterate the monster, successfully protecting his friends and proving his worth as a true hero, even as his own condition remains fatally grim.
