Supergirl #1 (2011) is the debut issue of Kara Zor-El’s series in the New 52 era, serving as a complete reboot of her origin story for a modern audience. Published in September 2011, it portrays a confused and powerful teenager who has just crash-landed on Earth and must cope with the loss of her home planet, Krypton.

Plot Summary: "Last Daughter of Krypton"

The issue begins with a meteor shower near Smallville, Kansas, though the main pod carrying Kara burrows through the Earth and emerges in Siberia, Russia.

  • A Strange Dream: Kara awakens from her pod in a state of shock, initially believing she is in a "fever dream" or a virtual reality simulation from her graduation on Krypton.
  • The Military Conflict: She is immediately surrounded by TychoTech mecha-suited soldiers who attempt to restrain her. Unable to understand their language and terrified by her surroundings, she reacts with instinctive force.
  • Powers Manifesting: As the yellow sun rises, Kara’s Kryptonian abilities—including super-strength, heat vision, and super-hearing—unleash uncontrollably.
  • The Encounter: The issue ends with the arrival of Superman, who intervenes in the battle and speaks to her in Kryptonian, commanding her to stop.

·         Cameo: The mysterious character Pandora makes a brief appearance in the background, a recurring element across all New 52 #1 issues.
