Superman #207 (2004) is the fourth chapter of the acclaimed 12-part saga "For Tomorrow," which explores Superman's struggle to solve the mystery of "The Vanishing," a catastrophic event that caused one million people, including Lois Lane, to disappear from Earth. 

Story Synopsis 

The issue finds Superman in the Middle East, entangled in a bloody civil war while searching for the man responsible for the disappearances. 

  • The Conflict: Despite a vow not to take sides in human conflicts, Superman faces a moral dilemma when he is attacked by the nearly unstoppable monster Equus, who is backed by a ruthless dictator, General Nox.
  • The Struggle: Superman must decide whether to maintain his neutrality or take up arms against an oppressive regime, all while questioning if he can trust those he has sworn to protect.
  • The Confessor: Parallel to the action, the story continues Superman's ongoing consultations with Father Daniel Leone, a priest who serves as his confessor as the Man of Steel grapples with his failure to prevent "The Vanishing".
