Plot Summary: The Origin of Starfire

The story is told in a flashback as Koriand'r recounts her traumatic past to her fellow Titans during a camping trip. 

• The Royal Rivalry: Born a princess on the planet Tamaran, Koriand'r's life was defined by a rivalry with her older sister, Komand'r (Blackfire). Komand'r was stripped of her right to the throne after a childhood illness left her unable to fly, leading her to betray Tamaran to the enemy Citadel empire.
• Enslavement and Torture: To maintain a fragile peace, Koriand'r's parents were forced to sell her into slavery to the Citadel. She endured six years of abuse and torture at the hands of the Gordanians and her own sister.
• Transformation: Both sisters were eventually captured by the Psions, an alien race of scientists who experimented on them to test their energy absorption capacity. This experiment granted them the ability to fire powerful star-bolts from their hands.
• Escape to Earth: After freeing herself, Starfire eventually fled to Earth, where she joined the New Teen Titans.
