The New Avengers # 1 Yelena Belova Variant 2025 NM

The New Avengers # 1 June 11, 2025 (Vol. 5) is a high-stakes team-up series written by Sam Humphries with art by Ton Lima and Rain Beredo. The series was originally solicited as New Thunderbolts but was retitled to New Avengers as a surprise marketing twist. 

The story is set during the "One World Under Doom" event, a timeline where Doctor Doom has achieved global dominance. 

• The Mission: Bucky Barnes (the Winter Soldier) and Natasha Romanoff (Black Widow) assemble a team of dangerous antiheroes to investigate an experimental Russian lab.
• The Threat: The lab is run by the Jackal, who has used genetic engineering to create "The Killuminati"—demented, monstrous clones of the original Illuminati (including corrupted versions of Iron Man, Black Panther, and Doctor Strange).
• The Cliffhanger: The first issue ends with the revelation of a bloated, horrifying clone of Black Bolt, whose attempt to speak triggers a massive, destructive explosion. 

Bucky and Natasha lead a team of "dangerous loners" who are willing to take proactive, lethal action that the traditional Avengers might avoid: 

• Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier) & Black Widow (Natasha Romanoff)
• Wolverine (Laura Kinney)
• Namor (The Sub-Mariner)
• Clea (Sorcerer Supreme of the Dark Dimension)
• The Hulk (Bruce Banner) & Carnage (bonded to Eddie Brock) join the roster in subsequent issues.
