The Phantom Stranger # 1 2012 VF+

The Phantom Stranger # 1 October 10, 2012 (December 2012 cover date), launched the ongoing series following the character's new origin established in issue #0.

The issue continues the narrative of the Phantom Stranger, who is revealed in this New 52 continuity to be Judas Iscariot, condemned to wander the Earth for his betrayal of Jesus. 

• Encounter with Raven: The story begins at the funeral of a young boy killed in traffic. A mysterious young woman, later revealed to be Raven (Rachel Roth), is overcome by emotion and an evil presence. The Stranger approaches her and reveals that her father is the demon Trigon, whose followers are all around her.
• A Bargain with Trigon: The Phantom Stranger attempts to help Raven train and control her powers, which leads to a confrontation where the Stranger must strike a dangerous bargain with Lord Trigon that has significant repercussions for the DC Universe.
• First Appearance: This issue is a notable key issue as it is considered the first appearance of the New 52 version of Raven.
