Wolverine/Captain America # 1 2004 NM-

Wolverine/Captain America # 1 is the first issue of a four-part weekly limited series published in February 2004. Written by R.A. Jones with art by Tom Derenick, the story (titled "First Blood") focuses on a joint mission between the X-Men and the Avengers to recover stolen alien technology. 

The story begins when Forge is ambushed while transporting a mutating Shi'ar computer chip from the X-Men's headquarters to Avengers Mansion. The chip, which is capable of massive devastation, is stolen by a rogue group of ex-S.H.I.E.L.D. agents known as The Contingency. 

Because the mission involves both teams' interests, the X-Men dispatch Wolverine to track the thieves, while the Avengers send Captain America and Warbird (Carol Danvers). 

• The Conflict: Wolverine tracks the villains to the sewers, where he is ambushed and shot with specialized "magnetic bullets" designed to neutralize his healing factor by sticking to his adamantium skeleton.
• The Partnership: Captain America and Warbird find the wounded Wolverine in the sewers, leading to an uneasy alliance as they attempt to recover the chip before it can be sold to A.I.M.. 
• Protagonists: Wolverine and Captain America, accompanied by Warbird.
• The Villains (The Contingency): A rogue black-ops team led by Rapture, a telepathic soldier. Other members include Condor, Killdeer, Kite, and Shrike.
• Supporting Cast: Cameos from Professor Xavier, Beast, Forge, Jarvis, and Sharon Carter.
