X-Men Unlimited # 1 1993 NM-

X-Men Unlimited #1 (1993) features the X-Men leaders struggling for survival in the Antarctic after their jet is shot down by the new villain Siena Blaze, with a tease of Magneto's return. This oversized quarterly series was launched to provide longer, self-contained stories and fill publishing gaps. 

Story Synopsis: "Rubicon"

The main story follows Professor X, Cyclops, and Storm as they are left stranded in Antarctica when their Blackbird jet is downed by a massive energy blast on their way back from the Savage Land. 

• Survival: A visor-less Cyclops, unable to open his eyes, is guided telepathically by Professor X to safety amidst a fierce blizzard. They find an ailing Storm, suffering from severe fever as her body struggles against the extreme cold.
• The Villain: They discover the attack was the work of Siena Blaze, a new member of the Upstarts who is attempting to kill powerful mutants as part of a deadly game.
• Confrontation and Rescue: The trio fends off Blaze's subsequent attacks by combining their powers. Xavier reveals he was rescued earlier by an unseen "friend" and sheltered in a citadel, a rescue implied to be orchestrated by a returning Magneto. Psylocke and Bishop eventually arrive in a second Blackbird to rescue their comrades.
