D'Orc is a hit, satirical high-fantasy comic book series created, written, and illustrated by Brett Bean, launched by Image Comics in February 2026. The series is known for its blend of whimsical, over-the-top violence and dark comedy, drawing frequent comparisons to I Hate Fairyland.

The Plot and Protagonist

The story follows D’Orc (pronounced "Dork"), a lonely, orphaned half-dwarf, half-orc who has spent 20 years hiding in a bloody, war-torn buffer zone known as "The Scar".

• The Prophecy: Sunderaine is locked in a thousand-year war between the Light (elves, wizards, humans) and the Dark (orcs, goblins). A doomsday prophecy reveals that a creature born of the light but raised in the dark will end the world. Because D'Orc fits this description, both sides put aside their war just to try and kill him.
• The Name: He accidentally gets his name after stopping a tavern brawl to defend a waiter, prompting both armies to look at him and scream "Dork!".

Key Companions

Despite wanting a peaceful life and a simple need for friendship, D'Orc is flanked by a chaotic group:

• The Shield: His primary weapon is a sentient, wisecracking, and bloodthirsty magical shield. The shield constantly tries to convince the mild-mannered D'Orc to murder everyone in sight.
• Chicken: A waiter who is killed early in the series and returns as a headless ghost companion. Much of the early plot involves D'Orc traveling to the Light side to find a "bone witch" who can resurrect Chicken.
