D'Orc #1 is the debut issue of a hilarious high-fantasy comic series from Image Comics, released on February 4, 2026. Written and illustrated by Brett Bean (known for I Hate Fairyland), it subverts classic fantasy tropes with a "both sides suck" worldview. 

Plot & Setting

The story is set in the world of Sunderaine, which has been trapped in a thousand-year war between the forces of Light and Dark. 

• The Hero: The protagonist is a lonely orphan who is half-dwarf and half-orc (hence the name D'orc or "Dork").
• The Prophecy: D'orc is fated by an "inconvenient doomsday prophecy" to end the world, making him a target for every magical creature in the kingdom.
• The Companion: He is accompanied by an "ambitiously violent" magical talking shield that constantly encourages him to murder everything in sight.
• The Chaos: The world is filled with bizarre creatures like Snargletooths, Necroids, Trauma Llamas, and even a "Ghost-chicken-with-its-head-cutoff".
