Absolute Flash # 1 published by DC Comics on March 19, 2025, is the launch of a new ongoing series in the "Absolute Universe" imprint, which reimagines classic DC characters for a new generation of readers. The issue introduces a teenage Wally West as the first and only Flash in this continuity. 

"Of Two Worlds, Part One"

The story is a modern, sci-fi take on the character's origin, where Wally's life is turned upside down. 

• Wally West: He's a lonely army brat living on Fort Fox military base with his stern father, Colonel Rudy West.
• Dr. Barry Allen: A friendly scientist working at the base, Dr. Allen takes an interest in Wally and invites him to join "Project Olympus," a top-secret experiment.
• The Accident: During an argument with his father, Wally returns to the lab and interrupts a dangerous experiment. In the ensuing explosion, Barry Allen is killed, and Wally is granted his speed powers, which manifest as a kind of sci-fi "body horror" and leave chaos in their wake.
• On the Run: Wally is immediately blamed for the accident and Barry's death and finds himself on the run from a special ops team, the Rogues, who are led by the "Captain" and include Digger Harkness.
