Absolute Superman #5 is the conclusion of the series' first major story arc, titled "The Last Dust of Krypton." Released on March 12, 2025, this issue provides the definitive Absolute Universe origin for the Man of Steel, detailing the final, violent destruction of Krypton. 

Plot & Key Developments

The issue intercuts between Superman's current mission on Earth and the traumatic memories of his home planet's end. 

• The Fall of Krypton: Following the leak that Krypton is dying, the planet descends into chaos. While the elite attempt to hoard secret escape ships, Jor-El and Lara work to save as many ordinary citizens as possible.
• Escape to Space: The Els' ship is the only one to successfully breach the atmosphere before Krypton explodes. However, a piece of the planet strikes the vessel, forcing it to deploy individual escape pods. Kal-El is separated from his parents and his dog, Krypto, as they are hurled into the vacuum of space.
• Earth Conflict: In the present day, Superman hunts for Agent Smith, a rogue "Peacemaker" who massacred civilians. During a raid on a Lazarus Corp ship, his AI companion, Sol, discovers that a presence named Brainiac is operating behind the scenes.
• Smallville Arrival: The issue ends with a flashback to a teenage Kal-El landing in Smallville, Kansas, setting the stage for the next story arc.
