DC All In Special #1 (2024) is a landmark comic book issue published by DC Comics on October 2, 2024, that serves as the catalyst for the line-wide DC All In publishing initiative. Masterminded by writers Scott Snyder and Joshua Williamson, this oversized 52-page issue establishes a new status quo for the core DC Universe and introduces the radically reimagined Absolute Universe. DC All In Special #1 is a 2024 one-shot comic from DC Comics that served as the launching point for the "DC All In" publishing initiative and the new "Absolute Universe". features the very first appearances of Absolute Batman, Absolute Superman, and Absolute Wonder Woman. The issue is uniquely structured as a flip-book with two interconnected stories:
1. The "Alpha" Story (The Core DC Universe)
Following the grueling events of Absolute Power, the mainstream Earth superheroes decide to unite like never before. They construct a brand new, state-of-the-art Watchtower and expand their ranks into the Justice League Unlimited, offering open membership to virtually every hero on Earth. Characters like Booster Gold are brought in as key perspective figures as the team prepares cosmic defenses for upcoming threats.
2. The "Omega" Story (Creation of the Absolute Universe)
Simultaneously, Darkseid realizes he has been cut off from his traditional role in the multiverse. Driven to find a new purpose, he sacrifices his followers and forcefully bonds himself with the cosmic entity known as the Spectre using a Miracle Machine.
When Darkseid invades the new Watchtower, the resulting magical and physical clash rips a hole in the space-time continuum. Darkseid channels his collective cosmic energy into this rift, creating an entirely separate, darker timeline: the Absolute Universe (initially dubbed "Alpha Earth").
The Aftermath & The Absolute Imprint
The special concludes with Booster Gold traveling through the unstable rift to investigate this new reality. He discovers a brutal, jaded world where Darkseid's energy is a fundamental law. This sets up the foundational lore for DC's "Absolute" line of comics—such as Absolute Batman, Absolute Superman, and Absolute Wonder Woman—where iconic heroes must come of age under severe disadvantages, without the wealth, systemic support, or comfort of their mainstream counterparts.
