Aquaman # 0 The Beginning of Tomorrow! 1994 NM-

Aquaman # 0, subtitled "The Beginning of Tomorrow!", was published in October 1994 as part of DC’s "Zero Month" following the Zero Hour event. It is a landmark issue written by Peter David that finalized Aquaman’s transformation into a grittier, long-haired 1990s warrior. 

The story takes place while Aquaman is in a coma following the events of Aquaman #2, where the villain Charybdis forced his hand into a pool of piranhas. 

• Dreamscape Battles: Most of the issue occurs in Aquaman's mind as he experiences haunting nightmares involving Black Manta and the symbolic loss of his heart.
• Heritage Revealed: The narrative explores Arthur's hidden Atlantean heritage and features a psychological battle against the memory of his father.
• The Transformation: At the issue's end, Arthur emerges from his isolation in the Aquacave, having replaced his missing left hand with a harpoon hook. 
• First Appearance of Hook Hand: This issue is historically significant for debuting the harpoon prosthetic, which became Aquaman's signature look for the next decade.
• Modern Age Redesign: It marks the full debut of the "edgy" 90s aesthetic, including the long hair, beard, and new scale mail armor.
