• Batman's Sacrifice: To prevent the plane from crashing into the heart of the city, Batman ejects from the Batmobile and attaches personal thrusters to the aircraft's wings. He manually steers the jet between skyscrapers, fully expecting to die in the process.
• The Intervention: Just as Batman prepares for a fatal crash into the bay, two god-like metahumans intervene, catching the plane and landing it safely.
• Introduction of New Heroes: The issue concludes with the two heroes introducing themselves to Batman as Gotham and Gotham Girl.
