Batman #2 (released October 1, 2025) is the second issue of the new era of Batman written by Matt Fraction and illustrated by Jorge Jiménez.
Plot Summary: "Robin in a Cage"
The issue primarily spotlights Tim Drake (Robin) as he faces a harrowing night after being separated from Batman.
- The Predicament: After being shot in the side by a corrupt police officer during a botched robbery, Tim is cuffed and thrown into a GCPD paddy wagon filled with a dozen violent, uncuffed criminals who want revenge on the Boy Wonder.
- The Flashback: The story is framed by a flashback to Wayne Manor years ago, where Bruce trains a young Tim to drive a manual transmission truck—a lesson Tim finds difficult, much to the annoyance of a young Damian Wayne.
- The Escape: In the present, Tim uses his training to take down the criminals in the van while still cuffed. He eventually uses that forgotten driving lesson to commandeer the Batmobile and save an injured Batman, who had been shot while trying to stop the transport.
- The Conflict: The issue highlights the rising threat of Commissioner Vandal Savage, who has militarized the GCPD and declared "open season" on costumed vigilantes.
