Batman/Catwoman # 1, released in December 2020 (with a cover date of February 2021) by DC Comics under the Black Label imprint, is a limited series by writer Tom King and artist Clay Mann that explores the complex romance of the Bat and the Cat across three different timelines.
The story jumps between three distinct periods in the lives of Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle:
- The Past: Shows the early days of their romance, their first interactions, and the challenges Catwoman faces from the villain community, like The Joker, about her new choices.
- The Present: Bruce and Selina are a committed couple. Andrea Beaumont, Bruce's lost love from the Batman: Mask of the Phantasm animated film, reappears asking for help to find her missing son. When the boy is found dead and Joker-ized, Andrea dons her deadly vigilante persona, the Phantasm, once again, to seek vengeance.
- The Future: An elderly Selina Kyle, following the natural death of an old Bruce Wayne, decides to finally settle an old score: she tracks down and prepares to kill an aging Joker for his past actions against Andrea.
The narrative weaves these timelines together, using the reappearance of Andrea Beaumont and The Joker's constant presence as the catalysts that test their relationship and ultimately define their legacy.
