• Ultraman's Reign: In Metropolis, Ultraman is depicted as a sadistic tyrant who gleefully destroys buildings and terrifies citizens with his heat vision for personal amusement.
• Twisted Cameos: The story features dark versions of other DC teams, including a "Doom Syndicate" led by a Niles Caulder who has merged with a robot body, and Will Magnus training his Metal Men as mindless killers.
• The Cliffhanger: Ultraman and Owlman pursue a mysterious "object of immense power" stolen from S.T.A.R. Labs. The issue ends with the revelation that the "object" is actually the Earth-1 Batman and Superman themselves, who are found incapacitated and chained inside a lead-lined vault.
