Blackest Night: Batman # 1 2009 VF

Blackest Night: Batman # 1 is the first issue of a three-part tie-in mini-series to the main Blackest Night crossover event, focusing on how the Bat-family deals with the undead Black Lanterns attacking Gotham City. The main "Batman" at this time is Dick Grayson, with Damian Wayne as Robin, as Bruce Wayne was deceased (or believed to be) during the main event. 

• Deadman's Arrival: The issue begins with Deadman (Boston Brand), who can't shut out the cries of the rising dead, trying to find and warn the original Batman, Bruce Wayne. Unaware of recent events, he ends up possessing Bruce Wayne's successor, Dick Grayson (the new Batman).
• A Unified Front: Deadman's temporary possession allows Dick to quickly become fully informed about the nature of the Black Lantern threat. Realizing they need all the help they can get, Dick reaches out to Tim Drake (Red Robin) to return to Gotham.
• The Flying Graysons Return: The duo face a "circus of zombies," including the reanimated corpses of Dick Grayson's (Nightwing/Batman) parents, the Flying Graysons, and Tim Drake's parents. The Black Lanterns use these emotional connections to inflict psychological pain and feed off the raw emotion of their victims.
• A Dire Situation: The issue ends with the Bat-family looking over an apocalyptic Gotham skyline, realizing the severity of the situation and that they will need significant help to survive the night.
