Blue Beetle # 1 2016 VF/NM

Blue Beetle # 1 2016 is the first regular issue of Volume 4 in the DC Rebirth era, following the events of the Blue Beetle: Rebirth #1 one-shot. Published on September 28, 2016, it was written by Keith Giffen with art by Scott Kolins.

The issue continues the mentorship dynamic established in the Rebirth one-shot, with the older Ted Kord assisting the younger Jaime Reyes with his new powers.

• The Mystery Deepens: The story builds on the revelation from Doctor Fate that the scarab is not alien technology, as previously believed, but a magical artifact. This new information shakes everything Jaime thought he knew about his alter-ego.
• Missing Teens: Jaime is back in high school in El Paso but is dealing with the disappearance of several local teenagers.
• The Posse: The narrative introduces "The Posse," a gang of teenage metahumans, and hints that Jaime's mother may be providing medical services for them, complicating his life further.
• The Origin Vignette: The issue features a flashback that re-imagines the origin of the first Blue Beetle, Dan Garrett, who discovered the scarab during an archaeological dig.
